I am currently Research Scientist at the Internet Experiences Group from Yahoo! Research in Santa Clara, California. Since at Yahoo! Research I have been looking at new ways to design mobile experiences for retrieving, accessing and visualizing relevant contextual information on the users’ surroundings and integrating these activities with social networks, information and shared data.

Previously to joining Yahoo! I was an Invited Assistant Professor at the Dpt. of Informatics at the Faculty of Sciences from the University of Lisbon and a Senior Researcher and member of HCIM, the Human Computer Interaction and Multimedia research team for LaSIGE, a research lab associated to the Department of Informatics, Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon in Portugal. While at LaSIGE I researched and extended current user centered design approaches to better suit the demands of mobile device interaction design and designed multi-platform systems for the support of several therapies and education, also looking at accessibility while working as a post-doc researcher on the ACCESSIBLE project.

I was General Co-Chair for MobileHCI2010, which will be held in Lisboa, Portugal, from September 7th-10th, 2010.
